News Writer

The Richmond Free Press is seeking talented news writers to report current and trending affairs.

Local News Writer

This position is appropriate for writers who are looking to get more involved on campus and are well-versed on the current events around Richmond University and in London. The local news writer will report to the News & City editor and be responsible for covering a range of current events around RAIUL campus and society, as well as keeping our readership updated on current events in London.

This position requires 1-2 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reporting current events of RAIUL and London
  • Publish at least one post per week, 200-300 words
  • Writing articles commissioned by the News & City editor

Qualifications:

  • Updated on current events around Richmond and London
  • Strong writing skills
  • An understanding of standard journalistic format

Breaking & World News Writer

This position is appropriate for an intelligent writer who is particularly interested and up-to-date on current affairs around the world. The breaking & world news writer will report to the News & City editor and be responsible for covering diverse stories from around the world.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Publish breaking news stories within 24 hours of initial report, 200-300 words
  • Writing stories in standard journalistic format
  • Reporting to the News & City editor

Qualifications:

  • Updated on current affairs around the world
  • Strong writing skills
  • An understanding of standard journalistic format
