Travel Editor

The Richmond Free Press is seeking a creative travel editor with a passion for travel. If you have a constant itch to explore and persisting wanderlust, this position will allow you to express your enthusiasm for travel. The travel editor will report to the editor-in-chief and be responsible for developing, producing, and managing editorial content under the travel category.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Come to each meeting with 2-3 story pitches to assign to contributors
  • Edit, revise, and proofread travel-related submissions before publication
  • Assuring contributors have submitted at least one “Where We’re From” piece


  • Passionate for all things travel
  • A keen editorial eye; able to seek out basic grammatical, spelling, and punctual errors
  • Creative copywriter
  • Understanding of content that is original and appropriate to the standards of the publication
